Tears

Tears / Crying

Shedding tears is a natural, healthy expression of a variety of emotions, including: sadness, loss, stress, fear as well as joy, and nostalgia.

Crying is one of our system's normal biological release functions. Studies have shown how crying removes toxins from the body and helps eliminate stress hormones (cortisole). Crying can help lower blood pressure, as well as reduce manganese (elevated levels are associated with anxiety, irritability).

Shaming those who cry or withholding one's tears is mentally and physically detrimental. Crying is wrongfully associated with weakness. In fact, the opposite is true - crying is a sign of substantial emotional health and psychological integrity. Strength rests in our ability to express honest emotions.
