Response to COVID-19

COVID-19 UPDATE

UPDATED February 28, 2022

Dear friends of Mercy Conference and Retreat Center,

The essence of the mission of Mercy Conference and Retreat Center (MCRC) is to provide a tranquil environment of hospitality and healing in the Mercy tradition for individuals and groups. As a sponsored ministry of the Sisters of Mercy of the Americas, located in St. Louis County, Missouri, we have complied with the laws of our municipality, state, and country for the safety of staff, guests, and Sisters.

We are grateful to all who live here, work here, or have come to our campus for spiritual direction, sponsored programs, and hosted group gatherings and retreats, for your adherence to our mask requirements these past two months. Thanks to everyone’s commitment, and the guidance from St. Louis County and the CDC, we are now able to revise our COVID-19 guidelines.

New MCRC COVID-19 Guidelines
Follow CDC guidelines for 5 days of isolation with COVID-19 positive test and/or symptoms.

Individuals are not required to wear a mask on the campus, unless the following is true:
  • Have lessening COVID-19 symptoms between days 6 and 10 after onset.
  • Have tested positive for COVID-19 in the past 10 days.
  • Have been exposed to COVID-19 in the past 10 days.
  • Are unvaccinated.
Individuals may choose to wear a mask at any time.

MCRC Spiritual Directors or Adjunct Spiritual Directors may request that their directees wear a mask during a direction session.  Your spiritual director will notify you of his/her policy.

Presenters of MCRC programs may request that participants wear a mask during program presentations.  You will be notified by the contact person for the MCRC program.

Group coordinators may request social distancing or that participants wear a mask in the group's presentation/lounge space.  The group coordinator will notify of these policies.

MCRC is committed to the health and well-being of its guests, staff and Sisters. During this continued time of COVID, we believe that vaccines afford each individual, our community, and our world, the greatest opportunity to prevent severe illness and death. We encourage all of our visitors and guests, individuals and groups, to be vaccinated and to stay home when sick.

Notification of Positive COVID Test:
  • Guests are still asked to notify Dawn Stringfield at 314.909.4656 should they be diagnosed or test positive for Covid-19 within 5 days after their time at Mercy Conference and Retreat Center.  This will allow us to proceed with any necessary communications or special cleaning procedures.
If you have any questions, you may reach out to your regular contact at Mercy Conference and Retreat or to Dawn Stringfield, Executive Director (314.909.4656).

We look forward to seeing you soon!

Peace,

Dawn Stringfield
