Modeling Clay

Modeling Clay

Use a medium like play-dough, Model Magic or other air-dry modeling/sculpting compound. Form the clay in your hands guided by a situation that needs your attention, a difficult emotion you want to resolve, a prayer that is on your heart.

Using a medium like this requires physical exertion. When we are anxious or upset, we can squeeze the clay tight in our hand, or press it under a palm, elbow, or foot. We can form it into an object that represent something that makes us afraid, angry, sad... and  then we can smash it or form it into something that brings us joy. It provides a safe, healthy outlet for soft, gentle expressions, as well as more forceful, gritty expressions.
