Empty Chair

Talk to an Empty Chair

Place a chair opposite of you. Imagine a person to whom you wish to speak, and begin speaking.

This is particularly helpful when we have suffered loss: death of a loved one, end of a relationship, loss of a job, the physical separation of the pandemic, etc.  We can become stuck in our grief, our sadness, our hopelessness when we hold inside unpleasant feelings, phrases, unexpressed thoughts.

Is there something you didn't get to say to a loved one before he or she died? Is there something you wished you would have said in an argument? Being honest with our emotions helps strengthen immune system, our beliefs, our self-concept, and our faith life (if applicable)
