LONELY

Lonely

While we can develop skills for  being alone or in solitude, humans are social by nature. Our species is designed to live as an interconnected community. For many, a family or social network is a crucial support system for emotional or mental well-being. The pandemic has forced humanity into an unnatural state of isolation.

Especially if we lack tools like internet or phone service, it can be really hard to feel connected to others right now. Being  separated from friends and family can cause sadness, anger, frustration, and over time our mind can play tricks on us. We may start to feel left out, cut off or even unloved. Sometimes loneliness can intensify a sense of irritation- as if we want to crawl out of our own skin. Lack of social connection and physical affection like hugs can even make us feel physically nauseated, listless. We may start to lose the sense of our own identity when we're feeling lonely.

Other words for this feeling: Disconnected, forgotten, abandoned, friendless, forsaken
