FEAR

FEAR

We tend to feel afraid when we confront something that is unknown to us or out of our control. With the pandemic, a great deal is out of our control. Fear contributes to a number of physical problems, like raised blood pressure, troubling eating or sleeping, intestinal discomfort, sweating, increased heart rate, or erratic breathing to name a few.

Fear can rob us our of trust in others, our faith, even ourselves. Faced with uncertainty about employment, economy, education, the well-being of loved ones, or our own health fear is a natural emotional response. But if we become fixated on our fears, if we focus only on the things that are out of our control, we can become stuck, paralyzed.

Other words for this feeling: anxious, terrified, scared, panicked, worried, distressed, turbulent, queasy.
