►Guides to Contemplative Living, Vol. 3: Living Your Deepest Desires
Wednesday Evenings, 7:00—8:30 p.m.

These sessions follow a four-fold process of spiritual development—awakening, compassion, contemplation, and unity—guided by the series Bridges to Contemplative Living with Thomas Merton. Be guided by such voices as Marcus Borg, Pema Chodron, and Annie Dillard to a place of interior silence and transformation. The booklet is included in the fee for the series.

►Yoga Series: Eight Sessions
Tuesday evenings, 5:30—6:30 p.m.

This yoga class will build flexibility, strength, and balance. Learn stress management techniques to quiet the mind, increase concentration, and build body confidence.
Instructor: Barb Michael is the owner of Optimal Lifestyles, a health and fitness company specializing in general fitness and yoga.

►Creating Journals with Recycled Materials
Saturday, February 9, 2008
9:30 a.m.—3:30 p.m.
In this creative and enjoyable session, participants will learn how to create colorful painted covers and to bind pages—using recycled materials—into an attractive journal for oneself or special friends. Bring a bag lunch.
Facilitators: Jan Aughey and Corlita
Bonnarens, RSM. Jan is an award-winning collage artist, painter, and crafter. Corlita heads the Creative Spirituality Program at Mercy Center.

►Taizé Prayer for Lent  (Note: New Taize Prayer Schedule)
Sunday evening, February 10, 2008,
7:00—8:00 p.m.
This is an ecumenical service of song, silence, and scripture. That Little Springtime—an introductory video about the history, spirit, and prayer style of Taizé—will be shown at 6:30 p.m.

►Midwives of an Unnamed Future—Spirituality for Women in Times of Unprecedented    Change: Part 2: A Spring Book Discussion Group 
Thursday mornings, 10:00—11:30 a.m.
February 21—March 13, 2008
(Part 1, offered in October / November, 2007,  is NOT a prerequisite.)
This is a book for women who are passionate about exploring their role in shaping the "unnamed future." Using the image of the midwife, spiritual directors Mary Ruth Broz and Barbara Flynn have developed a series of reflections and rituals that can be used by groups of women coming together to deepen their own spirituality and uncover new life in age-old spiritual truths. The book will be available for purchase at Mercy Center prior to the first session.

►Walking the Lenten Journey: A Quiet Lenten Retreat
February 22—23, 2008
This guided retreat will provide reflections based on the Scriptures of the Lenten Season which accompany us as we journey through Lent toward the celebration of Easter. The retreat opens with 5:30 p.m. supper on Friday, February 22 and concludes at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 23. The option is available to extend the time of prayer through mid-morning on Sunday.
Presenter: Ginger Andrews, RSM is a spiritual director and an adjunct assistant professor of Pastoral Theology at Aquinas Institute.

►Becoming an Adult Believer: A Guided Retreat
May 4—10, 2008
Newman states, "The only evidence of life is growth." Using the insights of St. Ignatius of Loyola and of other spiritual teachers, this retreat will explore the implications of that truth for adult faith development.This guided retreat opens with 5:30 p.m. supper on Sunday, May 4 and concludes midmorning on Saturday, May 10.

►Living in the Present Moment: A Guided Retreat
July 25—August 1, 2008
We can only know the truth that God is present in the here and now when our minds are still and when we are present, fully and intensely, in the Now. This retreat will help us discover the richness of God’s life within us. This quiet retreat begins with 5:30 p.m. supper on Friday, July 25 and closes mid-morning on Friday, August  1.
Presenter: Carol Marozzi, SSJ, the former director of Bon Secours Spiritual Center in Marriottsville, MD, has extensive experience in spiritual direction and retreat ministry.

Marcus J. Borg holds the Hundere Chair in Religion and Culture in the Philosophy Department at Oregon State University. A fellow of the Jesus Seminar, he has served as national chair of the Historical Jesus Section of the Society of Biblical Literature and co-chair of its International New Testament Program Committee, and is past president of the Anglican Association of Biblical Scholars. Dr. Borg has written fourteen books, including Meeting Jesus Again for the First Time, the best-selling book by a contemporary Jesus scholar. His latest book, Jesus: The Relevance of a Religious Revolutionary, was published in November, 2006.

Presented by Maury Boehmer, a member of New Awakenings Community who holds graduate degrees in Theology and in Culture and Spirituality, and who has given various workshops and seminars. Come and explore our capacity for relationships in which we can awaken to the underlying connectedness and oneness of all beings. These sessions will define our capabilities for thinking, sensing, feeling and being in ways that can help us realize new possibilities in ourselves, in our institutions, and in society itself. This program is about the mystery of life and about our journey together to find the life that we long for.
